Bayern Munich achieved redemption inside Wembley Stadium Saturday, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in an entertaining Champions League final.
An 89th-minute Arjen Robben goal was enough for Bayern, who avenged their recent final defeats at the hands of Inter Milan and Chelsea.
The two sides cancelled each other out tactically in a goalless first half, but MarioMandzukic and Ilkay Gundogan traded strikes in the second to setup a thrilling climax.
With time ticking away, Robben, who had missed several good chances to score earlier in the game, controlled Franck Ribery's neat layoff and turned his shot past a helpless Roman Weidenfeller.
The win confirms Bayern as the premier club team in Europe at this moment and marks their fifth European Cup or Champions League title.
